TINNITUS PROBLEM SOLVED WITH HYPNOSIS

TINNITUS  PROBLEM SOLVED

Constant ringing in the ears can be difficult to cope with, especially as it can persist for years in many cases. The noise actually originates in the brain – and not the ears. Hypnosis can train your brain  to envisage moving the noise so far away that it no longer bothers you. Eventually, once you cease to focus on it then the noise will disappear completely.

Before we look at why hypnosis and EFT are so effective, I’d like to review some basic principles of hearing. You already know that sound is collected by the external and middle ear as vibration, converted to electrochemical energy in the cochlea, and transmitted along the acoustic nerve to specialized brain cells in the temporal lobes of the brain.

A Sensation of Sound

Tinnitus is the sensation of a sound in the ear or head, which is not being created by an external source. This sound can be of any pitch or type, and be continuous or intermittent. Tinnitus can be in one ear or both.  Even  alternating between the two.

Mild tinnitus is quite a common condition with approximately one in five people occasionally affected. Around one in 200 people have severe tinnitus which affects their ability to lead a normal life.

The sounds tinnitus sufferers hear may be constant or occasional, and they can be a variety of different sounds. For example; a high-pitched whistling, buzzing, ringing, hissing or the roar of an ocean.

Tinnitus is almost always made more severe by stress, depression or anxiety, which is why hypnosis can be so effective at helping clients to visualize relieving tinnitus and the distress that it causes. The client’s approach to tinnitus is also crucial. People with a positive attitude towards dealing with it tend to find it more manageable.

Hypnosis has been found to offer excellent results in helping many people to live with tinnitus who failed to respond to other forms of treatment.

With the help of hypnosis,  you can visualize reducing the volume of tinnitus and possibly even make it disappear, just as it does in their dreams!

WHAT CAUSES TINNITUS?

Tinnitus may have several underlying causes. Your doctor may begin investigating the condition by first finding out what kind of tinnitus you suffer from. There are two general types of tinnitus: subjective and objective tinnitus.

Subjective tinnitus means that only you can hear the noise or ringing in your ears. Objective tinnitus means that it may be possible for your physician to also hear the noise or ringing while performing an exam.

Tinnitus can be caused by a number of things from certain medications to a variety of health problems. It is always important to check with your ENT,   otolaryngologist. If it is simply an Earwax buildup or something more serious, it is best to be cleared by your doctor.   Hypnosis will not  clear earwax but hypnosis can mask other conditions that should be addressed by your otolaryngologist.

Possible causes of tinnitus include:

  • Age-related hearing loss
  • Exposure to loud noise
  • Earwax buildup
  • Abnormal bone growth in the ear
  • Meniere’s disease
  • Stress and depression
  • Head or neck injuries
  • Benign tumor of the cranial nerve
  • Certain medications

Symptoms

Tinnitus is most often described as a ringing in the ears, even though no external sound is present. However, tinnitus can also cause other types of phantom noises in your ears, including:

  • Buzzing
  • Roaring
  • Clicking
  • Hissing
  • Humming

Most people who have tinnitus have subjective tinnitus, or tinnitus that only you can hear. The noises of tinnitus may vary in pitch from a low roar to a high squeal, and you may hear it in one or both ears. In some cases, the sound can be so loud it interferes with your ability to concentrate or hear external sound. Tinnitus may be present all the time, or it may come and go.

Tinnitus usually doesn’t continue forever. There will be a large number of factors that will establish how long your tinnitus will stick around, including the primary cause of your tinnitus and your general hearing health.

Is There a Link Between Diet and Tinnitus?

tinnitus problem solvedTinnitus, or persistent head noise, is a curious condition with a wide variety of causes and symptoms. While there are no foods that cause tinnitus, there may be a few that can make tinnitus louder or nearly unbearable for many sufferers, including:

  • Coffee. Many tinnitus sufferers have stopped drinking coffee at the suggestion of their doctors. Stress is a known aggravator of tinnitus, and increased caffeine can trigger stress responses. However, new research indicates that reducing caffeine intake may not relieve tinnitus—and caffeine withdrawal tends to worsen the problem.
  • Salt. Sodium has been proven to aggravate tinnitus, and for a fairly obvious reason: excess salt leads to higher blood pressure. As the blood vessels constrict, blood has a harder time circulating freely—and in the ears, the blood and heartbeat can actually be heard as tinnitus becomes louder. Many people who reduce their sodium intake by cutting out salty snacks and processed foods report a decrease in tinnitus sounds.
  • Saturated fats. Cheese, butter, red meat, and other saturated fats increase cholesterol levels, and over time can lead to atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is a known contributing factor to tinnitus, as well as increasing a patient’s risk factor of heart disease and strokes.
  • Sugars. Patients who have diabetic symptoms are more likely to notice an increase in tinnitus when they eat sugary foods, such as chocolate or candy. The eyes, ears, and brain all depend on oxygen and glucose (sugar) from a person’s blood supply—and hearing can be affected as glucose levels rise.
  • Alcohol. Some tinnitus patients have reported that they cannot drink as much—or at all—due to the effect it has on their tinnitus. Alcoholic beverages contain sugar, cause dehydration, and increase blood pressure, all of which can make tinnitus more noticeable.

Hypnosis has proven as effective for tinnitus sufferers. Used in conjunction with EFT, approximately 90% gain substantial relief.

Even more significant for this discussion, specialized centers in your brain determine the relative importance of that sound. Your conscious mind can pay attention to about a hundred bits of information at any given instant; however, there are millions of information bits bombarding you constantly, some deemed by your mind to be more important than others.

These bits, or stimuli, include sight, touch, smell, taste, and hearing. The relative importance of the stimuli is always changing, so the degree of attention you grant them also changes. Your conscious mind chooses to ignore any not deemed threatening, challenging, exciting, rewarding, or essential to your survival. That is, your brain ignores things it considers unimportant.

Many stimuli are there right now; you just haven’t noticed them. For example, if you’re wearing shoes as you read this, how tight or how loose do your shoes feel where your toes contact the inside lining? Are they comfortable? Warm? Stiff? Soft?

Were you aware of these sensations before I mentioned your shoes? Check your peripheral vision right now. While you look straight at this page, how many nearby items can you see; a telephone, perhaps, or copy machine, a notepad, stapler, pencil, or your glasses?

Were you truly seeing these items moments ago? Are you aware, right now, of the feeling of the tongue inside your mouth? Do you notice that it’s rough on one side…and smooth on the other?
