Managing Stress With Hypnosis

Not all stress is bad, it can serve as a much-needed motivator to complete tasks and reach our goals. However, it can have a negative impact on your mind and body, as well as your life.

We all respond to stress in different ways, and many health problems can be attributed to psychological imbalances. Because of this, learning how to manage your stresses will lead to not only a healthier mind, but also a healthier body. 

Stress Changes Lives

stressMajor life changes such as moving house, divorce, changing job, bereavement or even going on holiday have been listed as stress-triggering events and will affect each of us differently. When stress starts to affect everyday life, such as sleeping problems, anxiety or lack of motivation, then it is time to address the issue and change your mind-set.

Managing stress with hypnosis

Hypnosis can help deal with behaviors caused by stress such as anxiety and anger-management, but learning how to deal with the stress itself can help solve all these independent issues as well.

Hypnotherapy through self-hypnosis can be used to help a person relax and manage the thoughts and emotions that affect us on a physical, mental and emotional level, in everyday life.

Simple techniques such as breathing exercises can help with specific events that may trigger anxiety or cause undue stress.

There may be a deeper issue that is causing you to be more upset in certain situations and this could be something you are not even consciously aware of.  So how do we find the underlying root of your stress or possible anger that leads to your daily stress. 

 

The repressed anxiety is like a beach ball held down under water; every time you try to let go it’s there, trying to float back to the surface. Fear taught as a younger child also is a great factor in adult lives.   Imagine if you were fearful of a failure as a child, maybe low score on a test, or poor performance in sports and you were threatened and drilled down by a parent.

This memory might be repressed and you do not even know why you are so stressed at every task you perform.  So, we use hypnosis to find your FSI.  The First sensitizing incident is the root cause or your stress but can lead to disease and worse.

Another way hypnosis can help is mental rehearsal.  By visualizing scenarios that cause anxiety and changing the outcome we can change the way that our mind-map works.  This can be combined with positive affirmations and used in future scenarios to empower us in those situations that would previously cause anxiety.

For example, if attending interviews was something that you would normally find nerve-wracking, you could use your affirmations or a simple anchor that links directly to your confident emotions and use this technique at future job-interviews.

What Creates Stress

What other activities create stress, anxiety, frustration or anger.  Take a moment and make a quick list of five activities that you think would create stress or anxiety in your life.   By identifying such events can allow you to mentally practice and be prepared.    Here are some common situations:

  • Public speaking where you might need to get up on stage and give a speech or lecture on the spur of the moment.
  • How about an unexpected death of someone close
  • What about an important test or exam to improve your future
  • How about a relationship going bad or maybe getting better
  • Failure of an invention or idea that you have been working on for a long time
  • Unable to make enough money to pay your bills or mortgage
