The Mind and Hypnosis

Mind and Hypnosis

Hypnotism works very quickly. Let me explain how.  We’re going to go through the rules or the functions of the conscious and subconscious mind. We’re not going to spend a great amount of  detail, but it’s important for you to understand you’re your mind works. Then you’ll understand how rapid induction hypnosis works.  Learn about the mind and hypnosis.

For our purposes. Let’s say that we’re dealing with two minds.  Follow along on our mind drawing.    Here is the conscious mind. Now, the conscious mind from a hypnosis point of view, only has four functions.

mind and hypnosis

We give it credit for a lot more, but it really only has four functions.

  • The first part is it is your analytical mind. Now, you know what that part is, it’s the part that analyzes problems and gives you away to fix them. You have a flat tire on your car. What are you going to do to fix that problem? You analyze it and you go to work.
  • The next part is the part that starts to get us into trouble. This stands for the rational part of your conscious mind, your conscious awareness, this part of your mind, must give you a reason for what you do, whether you like it or not. Give you a reason why you do the things you do.

The reason is like Ivory soap. It’s 99 44 100% wrong but it sounds good. For example, I smoke because it calms me. Makes me feel relaxed. Gives me time to pause and gather my thoughts, hogwash. You smoke for security.

But that’s a whole other story. Another example is saying I’m overweight. I’m overweight because I eat when I’m bored 8, when I’m nervous I eat when the commercials come on. No, you may eat for a lot of reasons, but it’s not one of those.

But you see this part of your mind has to give you a reason why you do those things. Because if you don’t have a reason why you do the things you do, you become anxious nervous, frustrated, depressed, and lead to serious mental illness, suicidal depression and things on this order. So, you’re going to be able to have a reason to why you do the things you do. It’s always wrong.

Like when a person comes in and sits in a recliner for their session and begins to tell you what, their issues are. They don’t have any idea what their problem is. That’s this part of the mind, telling them telling you what their problem is and this part of the mine doesn’t have the answers.

  • Next thing up here. Is willpower. I’m going to stop smoking. I’m going to put these cigarettes down and there’s nothing on the force of this planet. That can ever make me. Pick them up again.

Well, that’s going to last. If it’s the first time depending on the force and power somewhere between four seconds and four to six months, but eventually you’ll fade, unless something else is added to it.

Willpower was never meant to give us Behavior change. It’s kind of like adrenaline is to the physical body, a short burst of energy to get through a brief situation.

  • Okay, the next thing up here is TM, that’s not Transcendental. Meditation that stands for temporary memory or your short term memory

The thoughts that we need just to get through our day, our life, what’s my wife or husband’s name? Some people don’t want to remember those, but that’s the way it goes. What’s my phone number, things on this order. Now, that’s all the conscious mind does.

What The Mind Expects Tends To Be Realized

The phrase “what the mind expects tends to be realized” is a reminder that our thoughts and expectations can shape our reality. By cultivating a positive and optimistic outlook and expecting the best, we can create a better future for ourselves and those around us.

Who we are, what we are is here in the subconscious.  Now, this is like an organic computer.  It accepts instructions and suggestions.

It doesn’t analyze them. Good, bad, or indifferent. It’s what we become and what we are. All of us today are no more than a sum total of all of programming that was in, that’s placed in this computer, our mind.

We are our subconscious mind

Now, what is some of the operational software in the subconscious mind? Okay, first our permanent memory. Your subconscious mind is like a videorecorder with the additional capabilities of taste and smell. You’ve never forgotten a single thing. You’ve never forgotten a taste. You’ve never forgotten an experience, a smell since the day you were born.

Can’t remember it with your conscious mind but in regression hypnosis we can go back and have people relive their birth if necessary. And before, Okay. That’s where we look for a lot of the problems, to find the first sensitizing incidents that cause illness, disorders, bad habits, and unwanted actions.

But that is a different article. Another thing is, here is habits. And you know we have three of them:  Good, bad and utilitarian.

.

Utilitarian are those habits that are the way we automatically respond. When something else happens when the phone rings, we don’t look at it, we pick it up. And depending on our mood, we answer it in the way that we feel.

Emotions

Now, the next thing in here is all our emotions. The conscious mind can’t deal with emotion. Every time you need an emotion, the subconscious mind opens and closes like a swinging door and that gets us in trouble.

You know, that sometimes you’ve had to deal with things, that didn’t have an awful lot of emotion with them but after you got through that process, you heard yourself saying or thinking something like this. Why did I say that? Why did I do it? It was so stupid. But the subconscious mind is laughing and saying, yeah, but it was so much fun.

Okay. Now there’s a lot of other things in here but really the most important thing about this part of our mind, it’s our protective mind. Its primary function is primary job is to protect us against Danger, real or something imagined. And detail is just as like it actually happens in this part of us. Alright, now we get into the meat and potatoes.

If a thought, an idea, or concept is allowed to get into this part of our mind with enough force and power then it must happen and cannot not happen. I made that statement but it’s tough to get something good or positive in there, on the other hand because the subconscious mind has another characteristic, it’s the laziest part of  you and me, it is easy to disallow an idea.

It doesn’t like to do the work necessary that the acceptance of a positive suggestion of change, requires it to do. Just think about it for a second.

I like Joni, I’d like her to be my best friend. Takes some effort, a little work. But I hate Joni, she’s a real (your own blank) is pretty easy to say and act out. You see, negative suggestions coming to the subconscious mind enter like, a hot knife through soft butter because it doesn’t take any effort to accept the negative suggestion, folks, you know, we all know, that’s true. You catch yourself thinking things and you don’t argue with yourself about it, and the more you allow that happen, the more – you’re subconscious mind will say  got to defend against that.

On the other hand, a positive suggestion of change, has a much more difficult path into that part of us. Because there’s another part of the conscious mind. We haven’t discussed yet. This is called the critical factor of the conscious mind.

Critical Factor of the Conscious Mind

I want you to think of this part as an employee, if you will, of the subconscious mind and every Friday he gets paid, so this employee does exactly what it’s told. You know, it really has one job and that is to stop like a red traffic light and barricade, any suggestion of change to the internal mind from your conscious level or external lawyer.

The critical factor puts it on hold and in the way we know it happens but we don’t have the slightest idea how it goes about inhibiting ideas of change but it happens. There’s kind of an inner communication between these two minds.

The critical Factor says Hey,  Joe wants to stop smoking. Can I let this in? If it goes in with enough force and power, it’s going to happen.  Our lazy mind says, what are you talking about? This guy’s been smoking for 35 years. Do you realize how much work I’ve got to do the reprogram.

And besides, I’m lying on the couch with a six-pack. I’m watching a dolphin game. I don’t need this aggravation right now, get rid of it.

Critical Factor says fine by me, and  turns into a mirror, rejects it and now  you only got one other place to go and guess where that is? To willpower. And we all know, how long that lasts.

And the interesting thing about willpower is when you try to correct the same problem, The second time it only lasts half as long as the first time, the third time you try to get off  the cigarettes or get off smoking with willpower, it lasts even less time.

As soon as the arm comes up, you’ve got this deadly desire for a cigarette so you cannot pick it up. Failure bigot’s failure. Okay. Now, we’re at our beginning Point, how can we get suggestion in here with the power to effect a change?  Well let’s use hypnotism, how about that?  Sound good to you guys?

Mind and Hypnosis

Here’s how hypnosis works. when we establish, the state of hypnosis. We bypass the critical factor of the conscious mind. Now this it’s like giving the critical factor them a couple of dollars, sending them to McDonald’s and we’re going to tell it when it come back.

We just let it step aside, we set it aside a little bit. Now, this opens the door to suggestion. Now, this really is what most people think, hypnotism is. And if this was all hypnotism was, then the horror stories that people think hypnotism is, would be true if that critical Factor was gone.

Any suggestion would be allowed to enter the subconscious mind, and you could be made to do anything without any controls on your actions. That is what the average person fears about hypnosis.

Well, we know God didn’t leave us defenseless, we got more backup systems than NASA has in their space program.

Sure, the critical factor is bypassed but instantly the conscious mind takes on another job. It becomes like the guardian of the gates. So, the conscious mind, here’s the suggestions that it’s given to it. Now, here’s what most average person doesn’t have any concept about because they were never told about this.

Mental Attitude

When a person hears a suggestion,  he must, and this is where the individual has absolutely no choice, he must make one of four decisions about that suggestion. Which mental attitude they take about that suggestion,  determines to whether it is allowed to enter this internal computer or whether it’s rejected.  Learn about the mind and hypnosis.

  • First mental attitude is simply this They hear the suggestion they think or say to themselves. I like that suggestion. Wow. I know that if it gets into my computer,  e. Subconscious mind, It’s going to work.

That one’s allowed to go in and change begins to happen for that person. Now unfortunately, you got three more attitudes.

  • The next one is there’s something a little bit wrong with that suggestion. It’s not anything against your morals or religion, but it’s just feeling a little uncomfortable. Like, that pair of shoes, you wanted to buy. But, you know, if you bought them, you’d be a crippled.  I know I got a pair of those, a little uncomfortable. The conscious mind and the protector of the gate rejects. It it’s not allowed to get in, there’s no change.
  • The third mental attitude, the client can hold onto is this one. I’m neutral about it. I don’t care if I get it or not. No cigar folks, that’s not good enough. That’s an instant rejection, its history, it’s out of there.
  • The last one is probably the one that most hypnotist can’t understand why they failed with their client. They were motivated. They wanted to change. They did everything right? If they did direct suggestion that the power was perfect, everything was wonderful. But they allowed the client to have this mental attitude. Oh, I like that suggestion, boy, I hope it works. Hope is the twin sister of the word Try. Try equates to failure.  You don’t want to try to do something, just do it!

Think about it yourself in your own lives. Any time you tried to do something; you didn’t do it worth a darn,  wasn’t worth doing or you failed dismally. I remember my dad telling me as a little boy, son,  You got to get that algebra grade up. I looked up and said, I’ll try dad , and then came the big F.

And hopes the same way you can hope for the cows to come home, but they’re not going to do it. so, if that person says, I hope it’ll work it won’t!

So you must adjust your attitudes prior to your hypnosis session, and you’ll see your success grow by Leaps and Bounds. Before hypnosis, I talk to my clients about the mental attitude, they’re going to have to hold on to and which ones to avoid in hypnosis itself. I remind them to think and hold the thought:

I like the suggestions. I know they’re going to work. But it’s critical, to hold onto that Correct, mental attitude.

The definition of hypnosis

The bypass of the critical factor of the conscious mind. And the establishment of acceptable, selective thinking thoughts ideas are Concepts that that individual truly wants to have work within them and you’re going to affect miracles for these people. Learn about the mind and hypnosis.

Once they understand that they have to use certain tools. Because if I tell all of my clients, I never fail, you do. I’m too good. I can I can give the hypnotic induction beautifully. I can give you the suggestions perfectly that will reverse the condition that you’re here for, but you must control your emotional state, how you accept the suggestions.  Visit  Bohol Hypnosis Expert for more info.
