What Do the Surveys Tell Us
A recent article in Psychology Today talked about the results from a large survey that found that 42% of the public feel unhappy about their body image. 49% of women felt insecure about their appearance and 34% of men. This is nearly double from a decade ago.
Modern technology and communications such as video conferencing and social media can heighten an unrealistic focus on how we look which can perpetuate fear of being judged by others.

Rewrite the dialogue and change the vernacular in the way you talk and think about your body! Hypnosis is extremely powerful and creates a change from within. It allows you to achieve inward focus which will allow for a heightened ability to accept suggestions for change and growth.
Surround yourself with positive people who bring out the best in you and learn to accept compliments.
Start looking in the mirror and find something about yourself that you do like. Focus on that, and try and change your mindset to the fact that if that’s a good thing then others will to see that.
Remember – even the Instagram influencers have insecurities, and they are being paid to look a certain way, and they don’t look like that all the time.
Quite often, if we have low self-esteem due to how we perceive our looks, we will perform compulsive or repetitive behaviors, such as excessive grooming, attempting to cover our flaws with cosmetics, and seeking surgery and other physical alterations such as Botox and lip fillers.
These behaviors sadly provide only temporary relief at best, and the original anxieties soon return, or we find another supposed flaw to focus on.
Therapy can help you to become focused on the positive rather than the negatives and can teach coping mechanisms to allow you to feel more secure and build confidence. Remember, you are not alone – reach out to someone.
Age Regression May Solve Issues
One of my clients has gone through her life trying to downplay her looks, and let herself go, gain weight, poor self-esteem and failing to make her appearance attractive. With the use of regression, we discovered she was an early bloomer in grammar school., The older boys were hitting on her and she was scared and bewildered at her age.
She found that if she let her appearance degrade and gained weight, that the boys that were harassing her and be annoying would no longer bother her. This destructive behavior continued throughout her adult life. But she had no recollection of the reasons she was behaving this way.
After finding out the root or First Sensitizing event, she then was able to understand why she was being so destructive to her body and mind. She went out and had a complete makeover, including hair, manicure, pedicure, and makeup. She began to lose weight and her husband became ecstatic with her new look and attitude.
The relationship had completely changed and she was on the way to greater self-esteem, positive attitude and excited with life.
Many comments and words said in anger to a young child can have massive effects on their lives. Remember that the mind hears all, remembers all but may not understand the works spoken until further learning takes place but those words acted as suggestions and what the mind accepts, the ideas, thoughts, images, and visualizations tend to be realized and played out.
Confidence builds confidence, and we all have the right to feel good about ourselves and to exert that feeling, so that our lives are enriched and we feel happy. Sometimes, talking to someone you don’t know is easier than talking to a friend or family member.
Even the people that appear the most confident have body image issues; try and remember that when you see them, and until you’re feeling stronger perhaps learn to avoid looking at certain things that make you feel insecure.
We are all unique in our own way and our personalities different. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder, and, as we said earlier, confidence shines through.
