The Devastation of the word FEAR
Could this single word explain so much of the failures and lack of whatever people are seeking and searching for? I call this devastation of the word FEAR.
Fear is an acronym, I see the word fear as False Evidence Appearing Real.
There are many others such as False Expectations Appearing Real, Forget Everything And Run, Face Everything And Rise, Fusion Evaluation Avoidance Reasoning, and False Emotions Appearing Real.
So, if you as a child are faced with fear from a parent, teacher , your church, that someone you admired and looked up to, what impact did that have on your future thoughts and belief system? Devastation of the word FEAR! Let’s explore your possibilities.
I Need Help
As a Clinical Hypnotherapist and a Life coach, I have found through the tools of regression, chair therapy and Gestault therapy that fear is most certainly an overpowering emotion and becomes deep seated within the subconscious.
This place where your rational mind has little control or knowledge of the interaction colorations.
Lang’s tripartite model posits that three main components characterize a fear response: physiological arousal, cognitive (subjective) distress, and behavioral avoidance.
These components may occur in tandem with one another (concordance) or they may vary independently (discordance).
Common Taught Fears
Some fears trigger Post Traumatic Stress points and will snap a physical reaction of your body, while other fear trigger points will set up as avoidance and protection points within the subconscious mind as a protective mechanism.
Think of some phobias that make you jump or run, some may even freeze and be unable to move.
Here are some common triggers, can you associate to any of these:
- When you come across a snake unexpectantly?
- As you put on a shoe a Spider or Cockroach runs out of the shoe?
- Seeing or being involved in an accident?
- A barking dog approaches you ?
Beliefs
What about beliefs that were told you or taught you as a child, what do you think your subconscious mind does for protection when you encounter an incident that counters your ingrained belief. Such as:
- Being taught that Money is the root of all evil.
- If you have lots of money, you must be bad.
- It is not good to be too successful, you might hurt people or make them jealous.
- If you help someone you might be blamed if something goes wrong.
- Eat all your food, as there are people starving in China.
- Don’t get a new car, makes you look elitest, pompous, smug or snobbish.
- Speaking in public. Having to give a speech or fear of public speaking.
Can you associate to any of the above circumstances?
My Personal Experiences
I can personally relate to my parents having the fear that I might get hurt in sports or playing.
Even going out in front of our apartment. This was so ingrained into me that I was unable to play football in high school as I might get hurt.
Even extended to many other activities which I had to fight through and force myself to participate.
These beliefs or incidents are call First Sensitizing Incidents. These are the events we as life coaches, hypnotist, EFT and NLP practitioners will work to bring up in your sessions and work through them so you understand in your current rational mind what your subconscious had put into its protective side.
Using Regression
I work through these issues using age regression and with simple phobias I resort to Emotional Freedom Technique ( EFT ). EFT we realign your energy meridian similar to ancient Chinese acupuncture and acupressure.
Age regression is done at the somnambulistic level of hypnosis, a very deep relaxation point, and uses some tools known as Chair and Gestault therapy. Even regressing you back to the time you initially started a destructive behavior or the fist time you encountered your fear.
Many studies now show that Asthma is often traced back to a young age where for instance a child had a near drowning experience. The body stops the breathing so not to breath in water and a panic sets in.
Then years later when something triggers a panic or fear attack, the body shuts down the breathing and it appears to me a sign of asthma and that person is prescribed an inhaler.
Sabotaging Success
If you find yourself reaching a certain level of success but then you can’t achieve anything greater, maybe sabotaging your work and marriage.
Maybe you are reaching a high level of monetary success, then you do something stupid to lose the money, again sabotaging yourself.
Here is a good place to start working with a Life Coach to talk about past beliefs or the use of a Clinical Hypnotist to use more advanced tools such as regression or EFT.
Don’t let yourself be held back by the beliefs or actions you cannot remember but the subconscious mind keeps very close and has protective actions that you do not understand.
